Description

“Stream” means a continuous flow of something. “Outside” refers to the outer side or beyond the usual boundary. The book Sroter Baire (“Outside the Stream”) has been created by dramatizing several stories from my two books, Chotogolpo and Rokomari Chotogolpo.

Many readers who have read these two books have remarked that the themes of the stories are remarkable. In some stories, they have seen how the condition of the country and the lack of cooperation among its people are pushing young men and women to go abroad in search of a better future. In some stories, they have seen what lessons a young woman has learned from her boyfriend over time. In others, they have seen how a divorced mother tries to overcome the generational gap between herself and her son. In yet another story, a woman attempts to cope with the pain and loneliness caused by her husband’s betrayal.

Readers have also enjoyed the humorous stories in the book. In many of the stories, ordinary incidents have become extraordinary through a blend of unique ideas and an unusual style of presentation. At the request of readers, I have taken up the task of dramatizing my own stories, and I feel encouraged to inform them that even before the publication of this book, the dramatized versions of several stories have already been performed on stage.
