This book contains seven novellas. Needless to say, each story has been written around one or more mysterious incidents. Since Sumankalyan’s wife, Sukalpa, is also an established detective, we often see her assisting Sumankalyan in uncovering the mysteries. In some cases, Sukalpa herself solves the mystery. In a few instances, Sumankalyan’s childhood friend Arijit also comes forward to help.

The mysterious events in the stories take place against different backdrops. In the final story, however, no specific place is mentioned.

In one story, Sumankalyan tells a character that his house is three or four stations away from the character’s shop. That house may not actually be his own, or he may have spoken falsely with good intentions. Above all, there may be a hidden mystery within the true identities of Suman and his wife Sukalpa.

Sumankalyan walks along paths created by the aspirations of many helpless people.

In this book, sometimes helpless parents, sometimes a helpless daughter or son, and sometimes a helpless sister are seen seeking Sumankalyan’s help. At times even a helpless third person approaches him for assistance. Some accuse others of crimes and demand justice, while some pretend to be innocent and seek justice for themselves. Whatever the case may be, the demand for justice arises everywhere.
